– LVGEM Group supports the reconstruction of Wen County Jiachang Shenzhen Primary School for five years continuously
Five years ago, after the Wenchuan earthquake, in addition to government forces, many civil forces are thinking about doing something. “Previously we raise 100 million in donations, but we did not very clearly know how to use it.” Vice president of Shenzhen Lawyers Association Cai Tifa said. Through cooperation with the Law Society to aid Wen County Jiachang Shenzhen Primary School, LVGEM Group has created a professional aid, long-term concern “LVGEM mode.”
Reconstruction reflects Shenzhen speed
2008 “5 · 12” after the earthquake, LVGEM took positive action and took the lead in the earthquake relief, creating “first time donations” and other “six first” in Shenzhen enterprises. After understanding the actual needs of the local from local social workers in Wen County in Shenzhen, LVGEM Group invested two million, together with the Shenzhen Lawyers Association and a joint construction company in Shenzhen, deciding to offer aid to the disaster area in their professional field of building houses.
April 2009, LVGEM Charity Foundation once again donated 100,000 yuan to purchase 400 sets of desks and chairs and successfully delivered them to Longnan Jiachang Shenzhen Primary School, which greatly improved and enriched the school’s hardware equipment.
May 6, 2009, Jiachang Shenzhen Primary School was formally completed and delivered to use as the first aided reconstruction school in Longnan disaster area with Shenzhen’s aid. The establishment of LVGEM Charitable Foundation charitable leads to a professionalization of charity
Guo Zhaobin, an independent director of LVGEM Group, began to put more time on LVGEM Charitable Foundation. As early as 2007, LVGEM Group Chairman Huang Kangjing in the first charity meeting of Guangdong Province, won the “Southern Guangdong Charity Award” issued by Guangdong Provincial Department of Civil Affairs Over the years, he has been concerned about and support of LVGEM’s charity development, and actively participate in urban greening, urban biennial exhibition, road construction, environmental protection, public health, disaster relief, teaching. The cumulative donations reaches about 150 million yuan. With the help of charity after the Wenchuan earthquake, on July 18, 2008, LVGEM Charity Foundation was founded by Huang Kangjing, with the initial injection of 15 million yuan.

Reporter: How does LVGEM think of supporting Jiachang Shenzhen primary school?
Guo Zhaobin: In the afternoon of the second day after Wenchuan earthquake, LVGEM launched a green ribbon action, a fund-raising activities with hundreds of people. As the disaster widened, we found that not only was Sichuan affected. When we see the Red Army carry students on their back, we decided to donate to the school that Red Army has rescued. The school is in Longnan Wenxian.
After the earthquake people of the country either contribute their money or effort. We, as a professional real estate company, thinks that just donating money is not enough to express our responsibilities and kind-heartedness. Later, we reach a consensus with Lawyer Association and other units. We want to do a turnkey project to reduce the pressure of society and the government. Later, I heard that Ningqiang County, Shaanxi Province is also seriously affected. So we consider to shift the attention Shananxi where few people pay attention. After the plan of Shenzhen aiding Longnan was issued, we confirmed the reconstruction of Wen County. Shenzhen Jiachang primary school is named after “Shenzhen”. It is the first school that is invested by Shenzhen and we carry out all the construction management. This reflects the love of Shenzhen enterprises without rein and our dedication spirit.
Reporter: Can you talk about the reconstruction process?
GuoZhaoBin: we sent three colleagues, an engineer, a management, a cashier, in the county for eight or nine months. Ranging from construction units, to steel, cement, mortar are chosen personally. Cement and steel weighed heavily. Sands in Bailongjiang has more mud content. In order to ensure quality we use water to rinse. Within eight months, we completed the turnkey project.
At that time we also encountered some problems, after the earthquake materials and labor are more expensive, the final expenditure exceeds fifty or sixty thousand more than expected. All of these were paid by our LVGEM Charitable Foundation. Of course, the presence of government personnel in Shenzhen and Wenxian also give strong support.
Reporter: Under what context was the LVGEM Charitable Foundation was set up?
Guo Zhaobin: Yes. LVGEM Group has also done a lot of charity things, but without a set of institutionalized and standardized things. LVGEM has been spreading love and donations in the vast land of Guangdong, Sichuan, Guizhou, Gansu and Tibet for more than 60 years. The donation has been donated to the society for more than 60 times. In order to do a better charity, July 18, 2008, we set up a LVGEM Charitable Foundation, and inject 15 million yuan into the start-up capital. Guo Zhaobin: Aiding the reconstruction of Wen County Jiachang Shenzhen Primary School became an experience, called the LVGEM mode. After the earthquake, we quickly identified the object of reconstruction. When construction drawings got to the scene, we started under the guidance of professionals. The county was very surprised to see. At that time, Shen Fuwan, previously working in Shenzhen, and then vice county deputy of Wenxian reported it to Command Headquarter. The Command Headquarter delivered our experiences to other counties.
LVGEM mode is a mode that donors locate a site, governments cooperate and design, and then carried out and completed by parties who won the bid.
Professional people is highly effective in their field, quality can also be guaranteed, which can reduce the pressure on the government. It is a standardization and professionalization trend of civil aid
In addition, we will have long-term concern to people we have aided. On the other hand we will focus on the self-reliance of the recipients. It’s better to teach a man to fish than to give him fish. There is no end to poverty relief. We could help them to solve a lot of things, but we hope that we can teach them to solve buy themselves. This visit to Jiachang Shenzhen primary school, we found that the local people’s disaster resilience is much better than we imagined.
Reporter: How will you use these experiences in the future?
Guo Zhubin: The afternoon after the earthquake in Lushan, I discussed with governing members of LVGEM Charitable Foundation.If the information is accurate, we will use the experience of Wen county to aid Lushan County, to be more effective. We also sent people to visit a local kindergarten, found that the local aid force has been relatively saturated, and intends to focus on other places. Guangdong Pearl River Delta and the development of Guangdong and western Guangdong is not balanced, then we intend to focus on education in western Guangdong, because education comes first in a plan of 100 years.
